Source & Summit
Jul 20, 2023
Managing the singers in your music program can be hard work. And, sometimes, helping them learn and embrace new music can be even harder.
Every week copies need to be made, binders need to be assembled, the music library has to be managed, and rehearsals have to be led—with most of the time spent on pounding out alto, tenor, and bass parts on the piano, or on the often painful process of introducing new music.
Some newly released features on the Source & Summit Digital Platform will forever change the way that you manage your cantors and choir, saving you hours every week and helping you focus more on what matters as you work to elevate the liturgy in your parish.
Here is a quick look at some of these new features from Eugene Burke, our Director of Product:
Dynamic Playback for Individual Parts
Here is a live example of a shared Ordo with a single hymn prepared. Unique links like this can be created for every liturgy that you prepare, which you can then share with your singers to help them practice.
Download Music Packets
Singers not only can listen to their parts individually, changing the tempo and watching their notes light up as the music plays, but they also can download a PDF music packet to print and bring with them to Mass, or to view on a tablet device. All they have to do is click "Download" in the upper right hand corner. Try it yourself to see how it looks.
View Scores by Role
To the left of the Download button is the "Roles" dropdown menu. Here, any of your musicians can select their role (cantor, choir member, accompanist, etc.), and see the each musical selection arranged specifically to their need. Cantors will get melody only sheet music, while accompanists and choir members will get SATB arrangements, all with a single click. For those who are in need of chord symbols, they can be added to every piece of music in the Ordo with a single click.

Audio Recordings are On the Way
We are also thrilled to announce that real, audio voice recordings are on their way to Source & Summit! This week, we are onsite at St. Benedict's Abbey in Atchison, Kansas (also home to Benedictine College), where a unique partnership has begun. We will be collaborating with the monks in Atchison in the months and years to come to produce beautiful practice recordings for the Source & Summit chant libraries, all of which will be fully integrated into the digital platform so that you can listen to them as you prepare, and share them with your singers to practice.
